Today was one of those absolutely beautiful days. Air was brisk. Leaves are changing. Did a nice 3 or 4 mile hike. Ate at the greatest pizza place in the world...The Mellow Mushroom. Finished a book and started another. Great sense of accomplishment for some reason in seeing a book through to its end. I highly recommend the U2 book. Started "Radical Reformission" and is great thus far. Last thought...I don't know what it is, but to experience the seasons is so refreshing. It's like I was made for this. To experience the change. To go through different seasons (in the weather sense) parallels life so much--it's good for my soul. Not sure exactly why that is, but would welcome your thoughts. Alright, now I'm off to change my daughter's diaper which she has filled with poo! Beautiful day.

i think that the reason that watching the seasons change is so refreshing bc it is an obvious picture of God's wonder....it just reiterates how and great and wonderful he is- its his beauty. that is a big reason why i want to move northeast....i dont want to miss out on that ish!! lol
ReplyDeleteYou mean, you want to move to the Midwest so that you can go to Wheaton, be with Maike and enjoy the seasons the way they were mean't to be enjoyed! Come on now, get with it. You could be an alumni in the ranks of Billy Graham, John Piper and myself. :)
ReplyDeleteI, too, have been enjoying the fall season up here in the northeast, Jamie. For me, having seasons speaks to the rhythm of life. Spring and summer remind of the lush, fullness of the good things in life, the blessings that overwhelm our hearts, while the fall and change into winter reminds of the dryness and steady faithfulness during the cold and dull and deary times of life. And when spring comes, you see the buds on the trees, the slow, steady growth of green, reminds of the "newness" in our life with Christ, that we are new creations, that His mercy is new each day, each morning. You remember the first warm day during college at Wheaton- everyone out in the quad, soaking up the sun and warmth as if we'd never seen it before...what a refreshment it was, joy to the soul. I missed that tremendously in Florida. And so I am soaking in the fall colors, and it is bringing refreshment to my soul amidst the changes. He is faithful still...
