Final Vision Night | August 24 (this Sunday)

Really excited about this meeting, as it will be our last time in this setting before we launch Sunday night worship gatherings on September 7.  If you've not been to a vision night, and are interested in this new church, definitely check it out.  Click the image below to be re-directed to the website with all the details. Hope to see you there!  Peace.

In honor of Fay

Went back into the video vault and pulled out some "live footage" from Hurricane Frances a few years back.  This is the news at its very best.  Check it out.

Off to School...hard to believe

Hard to believe, but our 4 year old heads off to her first day of school tomorrow (pre-K).  She is unbelievably excited.  This picture could be her tomorrow running out the door.  She's been counting down the days.  It'll be weird, as she's never been in school and is now going 5 days a week.  Probably not weird for her...more for her parents.  The next stage of life with kids is about to begin.  Fun times.

Recovering

Well I survived the surgery and I'm off some of the drugs, so I figure it's safe to actually blog now.  First 24 hours were pretty painful.  Each day is getting better.  Turns out that not only did I tear my ACL but I messed up my Meniscus as well.  They took care of both while they were in there.  Heather has been absolutely amazing in all of this...she could definitely use some rest.  It's like she's got 3 little kids.  I've posted some "glamour shots" for those who are interested.  Also, if you think of it, pray for tomorrow morning.  I'm supposed to be sharing at CrossPointe tomorrow morning about our plans for CrossPointe | Winter Park.  Hopefully I won't be in a drug induced stupor at that point.  Peace.

Find a Bible

What-is-the-bible
Ever wonder why there are so many translations of the Bible? Where did they all come from and which one should you read?

If you answered "yes" to either of those questions then you ought to do yourself a favor and check out this resource developed by a friend of mine.  It's called BEST BIBLE.  Check it out.

Soul Spa, Slabs & Surgery

Haven't blogged in awhile, so here's some highlights of the past few days...

Soul Spa
:: the annual CrossPointe retreat was August 7-9 out at Daytona Beach.  All of the teaching were out of the Sermon on the Mount.  I got the privilege of teaching the opening night session on the "wise and foolish builders" in Matthew 7.  I'll let you know when audio is available.  I also got to teach a breakout session on Matthew 5:38-42.  God was very gracious as I didn't feel as settled as I normally do before a teaching.

More than anything, the time away was a good time of reflection for Heather and I as we thought of where we were this time last year.  Soul Spa 2007 was our first connection with CrossPointe as we attended the first week I was on the new job.  God has been so good to us!  We are incredibly thankful for all the people from CrossPointe that we now count as friends.  Excited that some of them will be coming with the church plant!  Very cool to see how God is building His church.

Friday night was an extended time of worship and a foot washing service.  It was a joy to be able to serve in this way and to pray for folks...it was a very powerful night.

Slabs :: all I have to say is that about half my backyard is going away!  That's right, concrete is being poured tomorrow.  Half-court basketball.  Place for kids to ride their bikes.  Less stupid Florida grass to cut.

Surgery :: Bit ironic that Tuesday the basketball court gets poured and Wednesday morning I will go under the knife to have my ACL reconstructive surgery...injury that occurred whilst playing basketball.  I'll keep you posted on the surgery...maybe I should try blogging while under the influence of pain killers.  That would make for some interesting posts.

Well there's what's going on.  Going to try and recover from surgery and then get a church launched.  Last Vision Night is August 24.  You should come (assuming you're in the area).  Sunday night weekly meetings begin on September 7.  Whoa.  Coming quick.  Exciting.  Peace.

Anniversary night out

Great to be out with my bride of 11 years! Officially tomorrow, but since Mackinley decided to be born on our anniversary, we went out tonight. Seasons 52 for dinner and then "The Dark Knight"--can't remember the last time we went to a movie together.

Heather and I had a great time reflecting on this past year, which has brought much change to our lives. I am extremely grateful to have her by my side on this crazy journey! So thankful that God brought us together...at the ripe old age of 21! Heather is an amazing blessing...a great wife and a great mom, who sacrifices much.  Hard to believe it's been 11 years. Very cool.
